Starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway
I was hoping to be at least somewhat entertained by this, being that there hasn't been a Tim Burton movie I didn't like. I was sorely mistaken.
The only thing this movie really had going for it was the scope of the sets. Visually they were stunning, like all of his movies. However, about half of it was CIG...and poor CGI at that. After about 20 minutes in Wonderland, everything looked like crap and the novelty wore off.
The storyline was somewhat original. It was a good concept, but lacked subsidence. The overall
storyline was like a very bad fanfic. I had to check the IMDb to make sure that Stephanie Meyer didn't write it.
Johnny Depp was absolutely creepy...and not in a good way. He was incredibly hard to look at with all the loud colors splashed all over his face. The Mad Hatter character was okay, but acted like Tom Cruise in 'bat-shit crazy' mode. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.
There is one thing above all else that annoyed the crap out of me about this movie: the weird love thing between Mad Hatter and Alice. It was like they were always on the verg of making out. I think the movie would have been alot more interesting if they had.
Overall, this is one of those films that you'll either love it or hate it. It's a good rental if there isn't anything else available.
